The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has projected that it will generate $1.2 billion in foreign exchange from its artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold trade operations in November 2026.
Of the projected amount, $800 million will be made available to authorised commercial banks through the GoldBod GoFX platform to support stability in Ghana’s foreign exchange market.
The projection follows a strong performance in October, when GoldBod generated $1.011 billion in foreign exchange from its ASM gold trading activities. The company sold the full amount to authorised commercial banks through the GoFX platform during the month.
“The full amount of foreign exchange generated, US$1.011 billion, was sold to authorised commercial banks on the GoldBod GoFX platform to support FX market stability in the month of October,” the Board stated in an announcement issued on November 2.
GoldBod said its November FX sales would be conducted under the approved FX Sales and Intermediation Framework to ensure “transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.”
The Board added that the programme forms part of its broader mandate to generate foreign exchange for Ghana and support the Bank of Ghana’s reserve accumulation under the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy.
