MTN Group’s digital infrastructure division has partnered with a United Arab Emirates-backed data centre investment platform to develop and scale AI-ready digital infrastructure across Africa as demand for computing capacity grows across the continent.
The companies have established Africa Data Hub Holding Limited, a new platform that will identify, develop and scale digital infrastructure opportunities in key African markets, MTN said.
The venture combines MTN’s African footprint, market knowledge and existing infrastructure assets with international investment backing and specialised data centre expertise.
The partnership comes as African markets face rising demand for cloud computing, enterprise technology and artificial intelligence, increasing the need for reliable and scalable data centre capacity.
For MTN, the venture expands its exposure to digital infrastructure beyond its traditional telecommunications operations and supports its Ambition 2030 strategy, which seeks to position the group to benefit from Africa’s accelerating digital transformation.
Africa Data Hub Holding will serve as the primary vehicle for future digital infrastructure opportunities under the partnership, allowing the companies to identify projects and scale investments across selected markets.
