The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) closed Tuesday’s session on a firmer note, supported by renewed investor interest and quiet strength in key equities.
The main benchmark, the GSE Composite Index, rose by 31.6 points to end the day at 6,036.32, a 0.53% increase that brings the index close to its year-to-date high. Meanwhile, the GSE Financial Stocks Index added 14.42 points, closing at 3,259.24, continuing a strong run that has seen financial equities appreciate nearly 37% so far this year.
Trading activity picked up sharply. Total volume reached 294,897 shares, while turnover climbed to GH¢1.97 million, well above Monday’s muted figures. The market capitalisation increased by GH¢420 million, closing at GH¢134.52 billion.

Selected Equities See Modest Gains
Among the day’s quiet movers was MTN Ghana, which edged up by GH¢0.02 to close at GH¢2.83, recording a trade volume of 198,318 shares worth over GH¢560,000.
Societe Generale Ghana posted one of the more notable increases, gaining GH¢0.18 to close at GH¢1.98, its highest level for the year. It traded 5,003 shares at a value of GH¢9,905.94.
Meanwhile, the NewGold ETF continued to attract attention from institutional investors. The price climbed by GH¢9.70 to GH¢364.70, with 3,571 units traded and a value of over GH¢1.3 million, the highest value recorded on the day.
