MTN Ghana hosted 100 Girls in ICT participants from the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions for a day of mentorship, skills development, and behind-the-scenes exposure to the telecommunications industry.
Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett led the engagement, encouraging the girls to see technology as a pathway to leadership. “As I always say, the next big thing should come from Africa, and any of you could become the CEO of MTN in the near future. This is the beginning of your digital career. Your creativity, curiosity, and boldness will help define Ghana’s digital future,” Blewett said.
The programme featured female MTN executives, including Chief Customer Experience Officer Jemima Kotei-Walsh and Chief Enterprise Officer Angela Mensah-Poku, who shared personal career stories and urged participants to persevere in pursuing their ambitions. Seven members of MTN’s Women in Technology (WIP) initiative also offered one-on-one mentorship.

Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager for Corporate Communications, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to bridging the digital gender gap, while Gloria Agyei, Senior Manager for Learning and Development, outlined the WIP programme’s objectives.
Participants attended sessions on Child Online Protection and Data Management, toured MTN’s Network Monitoring Center, and visited a cell site for first-hand insight into telecom operations.
The event forms part of MTN Ghana’s broader investment in equipping young women with the skills and confidence to contribute to the country’s digital economy.
