MTN Ghana dominated activity on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) during the week ended July 24, 2026, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the total value of shares traded as investors continued to show strong interest in the telecommunications company.
Data from the GSE showed that MTN Ghana recorded GH¢30 million in trading value, representing about 62.3% of the total GH¢48.12 million value traded across the market during the week.
The telecom company was also the most actively traded stock by volume, with 4.4 million shares changing hands, making up a significant share of the 11.51 million shares traded during the five-day trading period.
The strong investor activity around MTN Ghana helped the ICT sector emerge as the leading contributor to market activity, accounting for 63.7% of total market value traded and 39.5% of total trading volume.
Despite MTN Ghana’s dominance, overall market activity was significantly lower compared with the previous week. Total trading value fell by 87.02% from GH¢370.87 million to GH¢48.12 million, while trading volume declined by 61.92% from 30.24 million shares to 11.51 million shares.
However, the slowdown in trading did not weaken the broader market performance. The GSE Composite Index increased by 2.63% during the week to 15,330.57 points, while total market value rose to GH¢292.06 billion, adding about GH¢4.49 billion compared with the previous week.
