Ghana’s largest and most popular retail store, Melcom Ghana Limited has opened its new branch at the Accra shopping mall enabling customers to shop ceaselessly within Accra.
The retail giant commences trading as an anchor tenant at Accra Mall on Thursday, 12 December 2024, ending anxious speculations by the shopping public which appeared to have noticed signs of Melcom’s move to the mall earlier this year.
Mr Francis Sam, Group General Manager of Melcom said the opening of the store at Accra Mall was to provide a one-stop shop experience for customers where they can shop all units at one location.
He said Melcom is a cedi save, explaining that most of the products and goods at Melcom are very affordable and of quality, hence, customers can shop with the little money they have.
He added that the retail shop is running a 20% discount promotion on all products and items, urging customers to troop in and purchase items before Sunday, December 15, 2024.
“We have one or two more stores to open before the year ends and the intent is to bring the shopping experience to all shoppers wherever they are,” he said.
The Group Managing Director said the intent of opening more stores both in rural and urban areas is to ensure Ghanaians get the best value in what they purchase. He said most of the products at Melcom were made in Ghana products, hence Ghanaians must purchase their own to ensure economic development.
Many have responded to the launch of the new store as they trooped in, expressing excitement and encouragement as it has curbed long-distance travel into the central business district to purchase home appliances and other goods.
Mr. Patrick Okine, resident at Legon said: “Convenience is the biggest thing we get from Melcom’s arrival here. I shop at both Accra mall and Melcom, and for the past three years, I have always had to leave my car at the mall’s car park, which is safe and spacious, and pick a public transport into the central business district because of no parking space. What can be more convenient than doing all your shopping at a single secured and well-laid-out location at Accra mall?”
The grand opening saw stakeholders and key sector players applauding the company’s efforts to ensure shopping gets closer to customers day by day.
