Founder and Chairman of McDan Group, Dr. Daniel McKorley, has urged young Ghanaians to stop waiting for circumstances to change and instead create deliberate paths to their future.
Speaking at the 2025 National Youth Conference on the theme; The Turning Point Youth Mentoring Forum at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, McKorley recounted his rise from a messenger to building a multinational conglomerate.
He explained that his turning point came when he shifted focus from his limitations to using the resources at hand.
“A turning point is the moment you say ‘enough is enough’ and refuse to let your circumstances hold you back,” he told participants.
McKorley highlighted five principles for success: discipline over motivation, competence before opportunities, value before networking, striving for significance instead of survival, and protecting one’s reputation.
According to him, “The most successful people don’t wait for large amounts of capital but they start with small, deliberate actions.”
He encouraged the youth to pursue opportunities in technology, agribusiness, green energy, and trade, stressing that self-reliance and responsibility are key to unlocking their potential.
“If the door doesn’t open, build your own door and make it strong enough for others to walk through with you,” he said.
Dr. McKorley described the McDan brand as one of hope, “built from the streets,” and noted that in today’s AI-driven world, excuses have no place.
He challenged the youth to act as catalysts for transformation in their communities and the wider Ghanaian economy.
