Liberia convened its first postwar infrastructure conference in Ganta, Nimba County, underscoring the government’s push to rebuild critical systems and restore investor confidence. The event, opened by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, carried the theme “Rebranding and Rebuilding Liberia through Reconstruction.”
Delivering the keynote address at the invitation of Liberia’s Ministry of Public Works, Ghana’s sector minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei stressed that infrastructure is central to economic recovery, public trust, and long-term stability.
He drew on Ghana’s experience, noting the importance of public-private partnerships, blended finance, and development partner support. “Infrastructure development is most effective when built on solid project planning, transparent procurement, and consistent policies,” Adjei said.

Adjei reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s reconstruction, pointing to regional cooperation in rebuilding roads, energy systems, and public works. The conference comes as Liberia’s government seeks to reassess infrastructure across three phases: prewar, wartime, and postwar, while charting a path for sustainable development.
Liberia seeks to reposition itself as a credible destination for investment and reconstruction financing, with infrastructure seen as a catalyst for growth in a country still recovering from years of conflict.
