Jumia, Africa’s leading e-commerce platform, has named Seleem Musibau as Chief Executive Officer of its Ghana operations, marking a key internal leadership transition as the company reinforces its market strategies across West Africa.
Musibau, a Jumia veteran, joined the company in 2014 and brings over a decade of experience in commercial leadership and operations across several West African markets. The appointment highlights Jumia’s preference for promoting talent from within and comes as the company seeks to expand its footprint in Ghana’s rapidly growing digital economy.
“I am incredibly excited to lead Jumia Ghana at this important moment in our journey,” Musibau said. “Having worked across multiple markets within Jumia, I’ve seen the incredible potential of e-commerce to transform lives and businesses. I look forward to working closely with our partners, sellers, and the dedicated Jumia Ghana team to drive growth, strengthen trust, and deliver value to our customers.”
Before taking over as CEO of Jumia Ghana, Musibau served as Regional Chief Commercial Officer beginning in February 2024. He previously held the role of Chief Commercial Officer for Jumia Côte d’Ivoire, where he played a central role in driving commercial performance and strategic execution.
Jumia Group CEO Francis Dufay expressed confidence in Musibau’s leadership at a time of renewed investment and customer engagement. “I am confident that his expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to expand and solidify our position in the Ghanaian market,” Dufay said.
“His deep experience in our ecosystem, combined with his strategic vision and passion for results, makes him perfectly positioned to lead Jumia Ghana into its next phase of growth.”
Jumia Ghana also welcomed the move, calling Musibau’s appointment “an exciting step” in its continued commitment to delivering customer value and strengthening partnerships in the country.
The leadership change comes as e-commerce competition intensifies across Africa, with platforms increasingly focused on localization, logistical efficiency, and digital payments to win over price-conscious and mobile-first consumers.
