Israel’s Ambassador to Ghana, Roey Gilad, has reaffirmed digital security as a top priority in Ghana-Israel relations during a visit to the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), marking the third high-level engagement between the two institutions in seven months.
Ambassador Gilad described the sector as the most dynamic area of cooperation during his tenure, citing Israel’s global leadership in both defensive and offensive operations, as well as its advanced technological capabilities. He also highlighted Ghana’s potential to emerge as a regional centre for excellence in the field.
The visit follows Ghana’s participation in a major international tech conference held in Israel in March 2025, where 20 Ghanaian companies formed one of the event’s largest foreign delegations. The Ambassador pointed to the upcoming Cyber Week in June as another key opportunity to deepen partnerships and foster innovation.
CSA Acting Director-General Divine Selase Agbeti welcomed the growing cooperation, noting existing partnerships with several Israeli firms and expressing interest in expanding those engagements to enhance protection for Ghana’s digital infrastructure, businesses, and citizens.
The Authority also reiterated the regulatory requirements under Act 1038, which mandates that all service providers in the sector, including foreign firms, must be licensed and accredited. The CSA emphasised that partnerships with local companies are vital to achieving national objectives around compliance, localisation, and skills development.
CSA further encouraged the Israeli High Commission to support the upcoming National Cybersecurity Challenge, an initiative aimed at promoting digital safety among young people and strengthening Ghana’s child online protection framework.
