In a move to boost trade and business between Ghana and Nigeria under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), an American fintech, Brij Technologies has unveiled a platform to transform cross-border payment between the two West African giants.
BrijTech Inc. has launched a platform to enable seamless transactions between the Ghana cedi and the Nigerian Naira. This breakthrough, the company announced at its unveiling at Movenpik Ambassador Hotel in Accra last week is supported by the Bank of Ghana and the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The service, named BrijX Currency Swap B2B Digital Platform allows individuals and businesses within the two countries to handle transactions directly. The platform enables users to directly swap the two currencies without the need for forex.
“This Business-t-Business (B2B) marketplace will open the direct swap between Ghanaian Cedi and Nigerian Naira for individual citizens and for small and medium businesses. BrijX will unleash trade without the need for Forex or other financial products unavailable to most. It is the ultimate financial inclusion breakthrough,” the American fintech company said in a press release.
With mobile money interoperability already operational in Ghana, this platform is set to streamline trade, reduce transaction costs, above all, foster economic integration between the two countries and the entire region.
This means whether it’s a small business in Accra purchasing goods from Lagos or a Ghanaian entrepreneur paying for services in Nigeria, BrijTech’s solution eliminates the need for time-consuming and costly currency conversions.
As Ghana and Nigeria continue to lead the charge in regional trade, BrijTech’s role in simplifying financial transactions is helping to open up new opportunities for entrepreneurs and consumers alike. For ordinary people, this means more affordable, faster payments that contribute to the growing wave of digital commerce across West Africa.
