The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) roared back to life on Monday, March 2, 2026, with a broad-based rally across banking, telecommunications, and consumer goods sectors lifting market capitalization past GH¢244 billion.
The GSE Composite Index closed at 13,350.54 points, bouncing strongly from last Friday’s (February 27) market capitalization of GH¢235.74 billion. Just the first day of another trading week, the market added roughly GH¢8.3 billion, signaling a renewed wave of investor confidence.
Leading the charge, Access Bank Ghana (ACCESS) gained GH¢3.85 to settle at GH¢42.40, GCB Bank (GCB) rose GH¢3.76 to GH¢42.01, and Standard Chartered Ghana (SCB) climbed GH¢3.90 to GH¢42.95.
In the consumer goods space, Benso Palm Plantation (BOPP) added GH¢1.40 to GH¢74.00, while Guinness Ghana Breweries (GGBL) inched up GH¢0.90 to GH¢14.65. Telecom heavyweight MTN Ghana (MTNGH) closed at GH¢5.76, trading over 2.6 million shares worth GH¢15.28 million.
The rally, stretching across multiple sectors, reflects strong investor appetite and market liquidity, showing confidence not only in individual companies but in the broader economic outlook. Total trading volume reached 4.91 million shares, with a combined value of GH¢37.75 million.
Monday’s gains continue the upward trend seen in recent trading, reflecting sustained investor confidence following last week’s dip and reinforcing a positive momentum for Ghanaian equities.
