Ghanaian women-led businesses are set to benefit from expanded financial and non-financial support services aimed at driving business growth, improving access to finance, and strengthening market opportunities.
This initiative comes as part of the enhanced Ellevate by Ecobank programme, which builds on the success of the initial programme launched four years ago.

Since its introduction in 2020, Ellevate has provided over 10,000 women entrepreneurs with tailored financial solutions, capacity-building sessions, and digital banking services designed to enhance their business performance. The newly enhanced programme seeks to further extend Ecobank’s value proposition for women entrepreneurs by offering additional financial and non-financial support.
As part of efforts to bridge the financial gap for women-owned businesses, Ellevate offers competitive interest rates on loans and deposits, digital payment solutions, and cash management services. Additionally, businesses can leverage MyTradeHub, an online matchmaking platform, to expand their reach across Africa through e-commerce.
Recognizing the significant contributions of women entrepreneurs to Ghana’s economy, the initiative aligns with broader goals of financial inclusion and gender equality. It also provides training to enhance leadership and business management skills, equipping women with the tools needed to navigate a competitive market environment.
Commitment to Women’s Economic Empowerment
Speaking at the launch of the enhanced Ellevate programme as part of the 2025 International Women’s Day celebrations, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Mrs. Abena Osei-Poku, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to supporting women entrepreneurs grow and expand their businesses.

“Women are not just beneficiaries of economic growth; they are the driving force behind it. Yet, many women in Ghana, across Africa, and around the world still struggle to access credit, investment opportunities, and financial tools to secure their futures,” she noted.
She noted that the enhanced programme aims to break down these barriers by providing tailored solutions that empower women to thrive.
“Since its launch in 2020, the Ellevate programme has significantly impacted female entrepreneurship in Ghana and across the 25 African countries where Ecobank operates. Over 10,000 businesswomen have already experienced immense value from this initiative, benefiting from capacity-building sessions and leadership training,” Mrs. Osei-Poku stated.
