A new community run club is set to debut in Takoradi on April 4, pushing the spread of organised fitness culture beyond Ghana’s largest urban centres.
GreyStiles Wellness Run Club will host its first 5-kilometre event next Saturday, drawing runners to a route that begins and ends at House 2 on Beach Road. The initiative aims to Promote fitness, mental wellness, healthy and positive lifestyle, building a strong and supportive community. It is expected to encourage regular exercise and promote healthy lifestyle.

Organised under the theme “Mind, Miles & Smiles,” the event is positioned as a community activity rather than a competitive race. Participants will run a loop through key parts of the city, including Mouds Bar, the European Hospital, O.J. De Graft-Johnson Avenue, the Second Harbour Roundabout, Kofi Annan Road, Dadzie Street and Akroma Road.
The concept reflects a broader shift in how fitness is being approached, particularly among younger urban populations. The event has attracted support from partners, including House 2, Melody 91.1 FM, Mega Sight Opticals, DietCare Ghana, Bethel Medical Centre and Bings Digital Studios.

With the onset of the rainy season, the cooler conditions will support the outdoor activity. Organisers are aiming to build a recurring schedule around these conditions, starting with the inaugural run. Registration is open for all, positioning the event as accessible to a broad demographic.
