The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has exceeded its mid-year revenue target for 2024, according to Joe Ghartey, the Chairman of the GRA Board. The statement that announced this feat however did not provide any figures. This achievement could however be a promising indicator as the GRA aims to collect GH¢146 billion for the entire year, marking a 37.7% increase from the GH¢106 billion collected in 2023.
GRA’s former Commissioner-General, Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, revealed at a Customer Experience Conference last year that the GRA would focus on making tax payments easier and encouraging voluntary compliance. Continuing these efforts, the GRA emphasised better customer service and leveraged technology to enhance tax compliance in 2024.
Julie Essiam, the current GRA Boss, is expected to provide details on this accomplishment and future plans at a media briefing next week. The GRA Board commended the Commissioner-General and his team for their exceptional work.
As the GRA looks ahead to the second half of the year, they urge all taxpayers and businesses to continue supporting their initiatives to boost the country’s revenue.
