The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has denied allegations linking it to a fraudulent vehicle auction scheme, labeling the claims as “false” while urging the public to avoid falling victim to it.
The GRA in a statement denying its involvement in the scheme reaffirmed that all auctions involving vehicles and goods are conducted exclusively through its Customs Division under stringent protocols.
The authority highlighted the emergence of a fraudulent media release, dated December 3, 2024, which falsely carried the name of Commissioner-General Madam Julie Essiam but bore the signature of her predecessor, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.
The GRA dismissed the notice as fabricated and stressed the importance of relying solely on official channels for information. It further warned the public against making payments to unauthorized individuals.
“The fake media release bears the signature of the former Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, but has the name of the current Commissioner-General, Madam Julie Essiam,” the GRA noted
Reaffirming its dedication to transparency, the GRA advised citizens to remain alert to schemes exploiting its name for fraudulent purposes.
