Absa has supported the securing of a EUR456 million credit facility for Genser Energy Investments LLC, an integrated energy company operating in West Africa.
The transaction, arranged by Absa’s Corporate and Investment Banking division alongside two other banks, will provide working capital to support Genser Energy’s ongoing engineering, procurement and construction projects.
According to a statement, the financing would strengthen Genser Energy’s balance sheet and provide additional financial flexibility to support its strategic priorities and continued growth.
The latest facility follows Genser Energy Ghana’s USD428 million corporate refinancing and Genser Energy d’Ivoire SA’s EUR200 million equipment loan facility completed in 2025.
Mr Edward Nartey Botchway, Managing Director of Absa Bank Ghana Limited, said the transaction demonstrated the capacity of African financial institutions to combine capital, expertise and regional reach to support large-scale projects.
He said Absa’s participation reflected the bank’s commitment to connecting clients with financing solutions for complex projects capable of advancing industrial growth and economic development across Africa.
Madam Ellen Ohene-Afoakwa, Managing Executive, Corporate and Investment Banking, Absa Bank Ghana Limited, said the bank would continue to support businesses to secure financing for complex and large-scale projects.
She said such projects were critical to industrial growth and Africa’s long-term economic development.
Mr Baafour Asiamah-Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of Genser Energy, commended Absa, Rand Merchant Bank and Standard Bank for supporting the company’s growth strategy.
“As we continue to grow, our focus remains unchanged: investing in large-scale infrastructure that delivers reliable energy, supports industry and creates long-term value for the countries and communities we serve,” he said.
The financing follows Genser Energy’s strategic shareholder transition announced in July 2026 and is expected to support the company’s next phase of growth.
The company is expected to commission its Gas Conditioning Plant and the Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids Export Terminal later in 2026.
The financing would also provide additional flexibility for continued investment in Ghana while supporting Genser Energy’s expansion into Côte d’Ivoire and other strategic markets in West Africa.
