Madam Julie Essiam, Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has announced that the government will settle a judgment debt of GH¢95 million to West Blue Consulting, an Information Technology consultancy firm, following the termination of its contract.
“Indeed, the judgment debt is GH¢95 million. We will not be able to pay all GH¢95 million at once, and therefore the agreement with the court is to pay this amount in three installments,” she stated.
West Blue Consulting provided technical and support services to the GRA from 2015 to 2020, with the Ministry of Finance facilitating the process. The abrupt termination of the contract prompted West Blue Consulting to take legal action against the government, seeking compensation for an outstanding debt amounting to GH¢289 million. After legal proceedings, the court awarded GH¢95 million to West Blue.
Madam Essiam made this revelation during a public hearing of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Monday at Parliament House in Accra.
