The government has announced plans to revive the Made in Ghana Fair as part of efforts to promote the local beverage industry and strengthen the visibility of Ghanaian brands.
The initiative is expected to support local production while expanding market access for beverages produced in Ghana.
Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, disclosed this at the 10th Ghana Beverage Awards in Accra on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.
The event, held under the theme A Toast to Ten, brought together key stakeholders in the beverage industry to reflect on growth and future opportunities.
Mrs Ofosu Agyare said the revival of the fair would provide a platform to showcase locally produced goods and improve the image of Ghanaian brands both within the country and on international markets.
She described the beverage sector as a critical component of the economy, noting its strong linkages with agriculture, manufacturing, retail and hospitality.
According to her, the industry continues to play a vital role in job creation and livelihoods, making it an important pillar for economic development.
The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the growth of the sector, highlighting its resilience and long term potential.
She explained that programmes such as Feed the Industry are aimed at strengthening connections between local agricultural production and beverage manufacturing to ensure a steady supply of raw materials.
Mrs Ofosu Agyare also encouraged industry players to focus on improving product quality and expanding their reach into global markets.
She further revealed that government is considering an Agribusiness Policy that would promote value addition and provide a clear framework for business expansion across the sector.
In a related remark, Mr Ernest Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance, urged industry players to embrace emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to enhance productivity and efficiency.
He noted that artificial intelligence could transform operations by enabling businesses to better predict consumer needs, improve product quality and streamline processes.
Mr Boateng added that the use of such technologies would position companies to respond effectively to changing market trends and consumer preferences.
