The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has unveiled plans to mark its 50th anniversary with a year-long celebration in 2025. The announcement was made during a launch event held on November 7, 2024, at the Accra Tourist Information Centre.
MUSIGA President Bessa Simons shared that the Golden Jubilee celebration will feature a wide range of activities, including a series of concerts with both local and international artists, academic lectures, symposiums, and a glamorous dinner gala.
One standout feature of the celebration will be an all-women festival, which will invite female musicians from around the world to perform, with international artists such as Cece Winans being considered for collaboration with Ghanaian musicians.

In addition to the main concerts, the festival will include outdoor and indoor performances, as well as church programs, with all participating musicians expected to self-sponsor their travel. Bessa Simons emphasized that the event would not only celebrate women in music but also encourage a harmonious exchange between Ghanaian and global artists.
MUSIGA, which was founded in 1975, has long played an instrumental role in advocating for musicians’ rights and preserving the history and culture of Ghana’s music industry.
