Preparations are underway for the rollout of the Girls-In-ICT Programme in the Upper West Region, with an inception meeting scheduled for today, Monday, August 18, 2025.
The meeting, to be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, will bring together key partners including the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE), and the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council.
Stakeholders are expected to deliberate on strategies, timelines, and logistical arrangements to guide the programme’s smooth execution.

The initiative seeks to equip young girls with critical digital skills, inspire careers in ICT, and close the gender digital divide. By creating opportunities in technology, the programme aims to empower participants to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s fast-evolving digital economy.

The Girls-In-ICT Programme, a flagship of the Ministry, has already trained thousands of girls in regions across the country. Beneficiaries have gained exposure to coding, cybersecurity, robotics, and digital entrepreneurship, building a foundation for greater female participation in the ICT sector.
The Upper West edition marks another milestone in the national rollout, reinforcing government’s commitment to inclusivity in digital transformation.
