Ghana’s My Redeemer School has placed third at the 2025 Robotics for Good Youth Challenge, held during the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, Switzerland. Represented by its robotics team, Redeemer Tech, the team stood out for its disaster response robot, designed to assist during natural disasters like earthquakes and floods, placing Ghana among the global top three.
“We came to learn, we dared to dream, and we returned with a global win, third in the world in the junior category at the AI for Good Youth Challenge!” said Madam Anastasia Nartey, CEO of My Redeemer School.
This year’s challenge tasked Junior and Senior teams with building robots that could operate in hazardous environments, deliver emergency supplies, and locate people in need. Teams were judged on creativity, problem-solving, and purpose-driven design using only open-source tools.
Redeemer Tech qualified for the global stage after winning both categories at Ghana’s national finals, hosted by The MakersPlace. A delegation of government and industry leaders, including Samuel Nartey George and officials from the Ministry of Communication and the National Communications Authority, attended the finals in Geneva to support the team.
“Our quest to position Ghana at the center of African innovation and excellence will be inclusive. At the heart of this transformation are our young people.
“The remarkable achievement of My Redeemer School in Sowutuom placing 3rd among 194 countries is a powerful testament to the incredible potential we hold as a nation, and a clear sign of how far we can go. I am particularly proud to have been on the ground with these brilliant kids, encouraging them as they prepared for the finals,” said Samuel Nartey George.
“Ghana Digital Centres has been at the forefront of championing a vibrant robotics industry from the beginning of the academic ladder. This is why we particularly took a keen interest in this project with The MakersPlace. We shall continue to provide the enabling platform, environment, and logistics for the growth of robotics in Ghana,” said Mr. Dzifa Gunu, CEO of Ghana Digital Centres Ltd.
