Ghana plans to open a trade house in Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou, to facilitate cross-border commerce and strengthen business ties between the two countries, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GIPA) said.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer Rashid Raymond Kramer announced the plan during Ghana Day celebrations at the 18th International Arts and Handicraft Trade Show of Ouagadougou (SIAO 2026).
Ghana is participating in the exhibition as Guest Country of Honour, using the event to showcase its cultural products, creative industries and economic potential while promoting trade and industrial cooperation with Burkina Faso.

Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, in a keynote address delivered on her behalf by Ghana’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Kenneth Akibate, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding economic cooperation with the neighbouring country and supporting African trade and industrialisation.
She described Ghana’s participation as a reflection of the longstanding friendship between the two countries and their shared interest in strengthening local industries and creating economic opportunities.
The minister also thanked the government and people of Burkina Faso, as well as the organisers of SIAO 2026, for providing Ghana with a platform to showcase its products and cultural heritage.
The planned trade house could provide a channel for Ghanaian businesses seeking to access the Burkinabe market and support commercial links between exporters and buyers in both countries.
