Across Africa, researchers are producing insights and innovations that could reshape the continent’s development path. From studies on sustainable technologies to data-driven approaches for climate-smart business and industrial solutions, a new generation of scholars is stepping forward to tackle Africa’s most pressing challenges.
The Ghana Scholarly Society (GSS) is putting a spotlight on these academics, as well as industry professionals, by inviting nominations for its 2026 Annual Awards. The awards recognise individuals whose work is driving measurable impact across research, industry, and public service.

The awards celebrate achievement at every stage of a career. The Outstanding Innovation Award recognises individuals whose work demonstrates international reach and leadership. The Industry Innovation Award honours professionals whose applied solutions are creating tangible change on the ground.
The Emerging Scholar Award highlights early-career academics and professionals within 10 years of their PhD who show originality, creativity, and potential to lead. Winners will present at the GSS Annual Conference, receive commemorative awards, and enjoy complimentary registration.
The Best Paper Award automatically considers all accepted conference papers, providing an opportunity for publication in GSS-affiliated outlets.
The awards are part of the iCAD 2026 Annual Conference, themed “Green Transitions and Inclusive Industrialisation in Africa: Theory to Policy and Practice.” The event, set for 17–19 June 2026 at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, will bring together academics, industry professionals, and policymakers to explore sustainable industrial strategies, green innovation, and opportunities for youth employment.
Researchers are invited to submit papers by 31 March 2026, with accepted work published in the British Library proceedings. More information is available atwww.ghscholars.com.
Nominations for the GSS Annual Awards should be submitted to [email protected]. Submissions, including self-nominations, must include a brief CV, a summary of contributions to the field, and a 500-word synopsis demonstrating alignment with the conference theme.

Together, the Ghana Scholarly Society Annual Awards and iCAD 2026 create a space where Africa’s brightest minds can converge, exchange ideas, and turn research into real-world solutions.
