The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has commended the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline while calling for the sustained implementation of key economic reforms to consolidate recent gains and accelerate private sector growth.
Mr Stephane Miezan, President of the GNCCI, said the success of the government’s flagship economic programmes would depend on effective implementation, adequate financing and stronger collaboration with the private sector.
He made the remarks at the GNCCI Mid-Year Budget Review Seminar in Accra.
The seminar, organised under the Chamber’s National Dialogue Series, brought together business leaders, policymakers, development partners, economists and representatives from the public and private sectors to assess Ghana’s economic performance and the implications of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review for businesses.
Mr Miezan said the Mid-Year Budget Review presented an encouraging outlook for Ghana’s economic recovery, reflecting progress in restoring macroeconomic stability and creating a more predictable business environment capable of attracting investment and supporting long-term growth.
He praised the government’s shift from excessive borrowing and spending towards prudent fiscal management, describing it as a positive development that could strengthen investor confidence.
The GNCCI President, however, observed that flagship initiatives such as the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, the Big Push, and other industrial and agricultural interventions remained at the early stages of implementation.
He said their success would largely depend on timely execution, policy consistency, adequate financing and stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors.
Mr Miezan urged the government to sustain the reform momentum by improving institutional coordination and deepening structured engagement with businesses to ensure that policy initiatives translated into measurable economic outcomes.
He said the National Dialogue Series formed part of the Chamber’s strategy to promote constructive engagement among government, the private sector, development partners and the public on critical economic and business issues.
According to him, the platform also supports evidence-based policy advocacy on behalf of the private sector while encouraging informed discussions on national development priorities.
Mr Miezan said the seminar provided participants with an opportunity to review fiscal policy implementation, assess emerging opportunities and risks, and examine strategies to enhance business competitiveness and promote sustainable economic growth.
He noted that businesses continued to operate amid domestic and global economic uncertainties, making timely, objective and evidence-based economic analysis essential for sound investment and business decisions.
Mr Miezan reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to championing the interests of Ghana’s private sector by fostering dialogue among government, industry, academia and the wider business community to support inclusive economic growth.
