Ghana and India are moving to expand bilateral cooperation in priority sectors including information technology, agriculture, renewable energy, and trade, following discussions between India’s High Commissioner, H.E. Shri Manish Gupta, and Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson (MP), in Accra.
Talks centred on deepening business and investment partnerships that align with Ghana’s national development priorities. The Deputy Minister noted the need to strengthen collaboration in digital skills, commending India’s long-standing capacity-building support, particularly at the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT. He stressed that scaling up technology partnerships is essential to Ghana’s competitiveness in the digital economy.
Agriculture also featured prominently, with the High Commissioner reaffirming India’s commitment to invest in Ghana’s “Feed Ghana Agenda” through value addition initiatives and technology transfer. Both sides underscored the potential for expanded agribusiness cooperation, especially in food processing and market linkages.

On energy, the discussions explored renewable solutions as part of Ghana’s transition to sustainable growth. The parties agreed that advancing clean energy projects would enhance resilience while creating new business opportunities.
The High Commissioner further announced that India would increase the number of scholarships available to Ghanaians under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, stressing on commitment to implementing all Memoranda of Understanding signed with Ghana, including those that facilitate trade and investment.
Both governments reaffirmed their commitment to deepen economic and diplomatic ties, positioning cooperation in technology, agriculture, and renewable energy as levers for growth and mutual prosperity.
