President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) at its annual lawyers’ conference being held in Kumasi throughout this week.
Presenting the award, outgoing GBA President Yaw Acheampong Boafo highlighted President Akufo-Addo’s long-standing contributions to the legal profession, as before becoming president, Nana Akufo-Addo had been a lawyer for many years, and later Ghana’s Attorney-General under the President Kufour administration.
“President Akufo-Addo served as President of the Greater Accra Bar and was a member of the General Council of the GBA,” Mr. Boafo said. “In 1995, he was set to contest for National President of the GBA but withdrew due to his political involvement.”
Mr. Boafo also reflected on Akufo-Addo’s political achievements, mentioning that he became the first member of the GBA General Council to be elected President of Ghana, a position he assumed in January 2017.
“The GBA proudly presents this Lifetime Award to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in recognition of his outstanding service to both law and the nation,” Boafo added.

This honor recognizes President Akufo-Addo’s dedication to the rule of law and his leadership in Ghana’s governance over the years.
