The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations (MoCDTI) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) and Presight AI to establish the Ghana-UAE Innovation and Technology Hub.
The hub, a first-of-its-kind initiative, is designed to accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation and position the country as a continental leader in innovation, tech-driven exports, and high-value job creation. It also reinforces growing diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and the UAE.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Hon. Sam George, described the move as a major pillar in Ghana’s future economic strategy.

“This initiative reflects the vision of our President to diversify our economy and ensure innovation becomes a primary engine of inclusive, sustainable development,” he stated.
The hub will serve as a magnet for global investment, a launchpad for local start-ups, and a conduit for building Ghana’s capacity in artificial intelligence, data science, blockchain, and advanced digital infrastructure. Thousands of high-skilled jobs are expected to be created, targeting Ghana’s tech-savvy youth and STEM professionals.
The economic implications are equally significant. The hub is anticipated to enhance Ghana’s export capacity in advanced technologies and value-added digital services shifting the country’s economic base beyond traditional commodities.
H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of PCFC, underscored the project’s human capital dimension, highlighting the transformative power of innovation.

“True wealth lies in innovative ideas. This project we are launching is about empowering people to dream, create and bring ideas to life,” he remarked.
The partnership also symbolizes a growing trend of strategic alliances between African economies and Gulf states, focused on technology, infrastructure, and future-forward industries.
