Ghana’s commitment to strengthening trade ties and promoting investment opportunities within the African diaspora took center stage at the 2025 Black History Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, from March 27–29. The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) made its presence felt by showcasing the benefits of Ghana’s Free Zones Scheme and engaging in high-level discussions with key diaspora business and policy leaders.
A Strategic Showcase of Investment Opportunities
Under the leadership of Mrs. Patience Agbleze Acorlor, Director of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations, the GFZA delegation featured a dedicated information desk and participated in a series of panel discussions. The event, themed “Bridging Continents, Celebrating Legacies, and Promoting Trade,” served as an ideal platform to highlight Ghana’s attractive investment landscape, particularly in sectors such as chocolate manufacturing and other burgeoning value-added industries.
Key Engagements and Future Collaborations
Throughout the festival, Ghana’s representatives forged significant connections with influential organizations including: College Park City Council
ATL-Airport Chamber of Commerce
Atlanta Black Chamber of Commerce
Nospora Company
These interactions resulted in concrete follow-up plans. Notably, a representative from Nospora Company is scheduled to visit Ghana in April 2025 to further explore business prospects. Additionally, the Atlanta Black Chamber of Commerce is organizing a trade mission to Ghana slated for March 2026, underscoring the festival’s role as a catalyst for sustained economic cooperation.

A Celebration of Legacy and Leadership
The festival, organized in partnership with BIDEC Inc., the African Union Mission to the USA, and the City of College Park, offered an enriching program that included panels, exhibitions, and networking sessions. In a highlight of the event, President John Mahama was honored with the Star Prize during the Black Makers Award ceremony, celebrating his contributions and leadership.
Strengthening Ghana’s Global Investment Appeal
Accompanying Mrs. Acorlor were Maame Ajara Martinson, Senior Officer for Business Development and Research, and Eugene Kojo Assempah, Senior Officer for Estate and Zones. Their active participation reinforced Ghana’s strategic intent to harness diaspora investments and accelerate industrial growth.
