The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans to allocate over GH¢3 million for the supply of footballs to clubs in both the top-tier and lower divisions for the upcoming season, which begins in September. This initiative, first introduced last season, aims to support the development of football clubs by easing the financial burden of purchasing essential equipment.
Football just like other sports are potential job and wealth creation opportunities as well as growth pole for the country, if properly harnessed.

During the 30th Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaian Soccer Center of Excellence, GFA President Kurt Okraku revealed a partnership with FIFA to invest $100,000 in acquiring footballs for grassroots development. “Football is all about balls. So our strategic plan to collaborate with FIFA to invest $100,000 in the purchase of footballs for grassroots football development will be repeated,” Okraku stated.
In addition to this, the GFA will dedicate another $100,000 specifically for colt clubs, highlighting its commitment to nurturing young talent by providing the necessary resources for their growth and success.
The Congress, which began on Monday, August 26, concludes today, marking the official start of the 2024/25 Ghana football season.
