Ghanaian businesses are being positioned to secure international buyers and generate more export revenue through the maiden Ghana Export and SME Fair (GEXPO 2026), as the country seeks to expand non-traditional exports and strengthen foreign exchange earnings.
More than 500 businesses are expected at the November 18 to 22 event at Black Star Square in Accra, where local producers will meet international buyers, procurement networks and institutional financiers.
Accra Markets & Expo Limited, the organisers, said exhibitor registration had opened for the fair, which is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.
The initiative is expected to support the government’s Accelerated Export Development Programme by helping local enterprises move beyond domestic sales into regional and international markets.
Target sectors include agro-processing, textiles and apparel, cosmetics and natural oils, light manufacturing, digital trade and exportable commercial services.
The organisers said the fair would go beyond product exhibitions by arranging business-to-business meetings to connect Ghanaian producers with buyers and institutional off-takers, with the aim of securing long-term supply contracts.
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), such agreements could provide a pathway to higher sales, expanded production and job creation. However, converting buyer interest into export revenue will depend on businesses’ ability to meet international quality, packaging, certification and delivery standards.
To address these challenges, the fair will feature training on African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) rules of origin, international packaging standards, phytosanitary requirements and credit facilities available through the Ghana Export-Import Bank.
The sessions are intended to help businesses overcome technical and financing barriers that limit their participation in export markets.
The event will also promote opportunities under the AfCFTA, which offers Ghanaian producers access to markets across the continent.
Accra Markets & Expo Limited is organising the fair in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana Exim Bank, the Federation of Ghanaian Exporters, the Association of Ghana Industries and the Ghana Enterprises Agency.
Trading activities will continue into the evening, alongside a food bazaar and live entertainment, to encourage domestic consumption and attract visitors.
SMEs, manufacturers, agro-processors and trade service providers have been invited to register through the GEXPO 2026 website or contact the organisers via [email protected].
The announcement was signed by Mr Frederick Avornyo, Exhibitions and Project Manager.
