Shallom Abla Lumor, CEO of Forshes Africa, has called on the public to offer both emotional and financial support to breast cancer victims across the country.
Lumor emphasized that many of these patients face overwhelming challenges and cannot bear the burden of their medical treatments and daily needs alone. Speaking to the High Street Journal to raise awareness about breast cancer, she stressed that the illness not only affects women physically but also takes a tremendous toll on their finances.
Lumor urged the community to step up, noting that breast cancer victims require comprehensive support systems. “The course through breast cancer is not just a personal battle. It’s a communal fight,” she said.
“Emotional support is crucial in keeping their spirits up, while financial assistance can ensure they receive timely treatment. We cannot afford to stand by and watch people succumb due to a lack of resources.”

According to the Ghana Health Service, breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women in Ghana, with many cases diagnosed in late stages when the disease has already advanced.
Treatment is often expensive, and many patients lack adequate health insurance or savings to cover the cost of surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy. This financial strain often worsens the emotional burden these women face, leading to depression and anxiety.
Forshes Africa, an organization focused on women’s empowerment, has been at the forefront of offering support to breast cancer survivors through advocacy, education, and fundraising initiatives. Lumor highlighted that while Forshes Africa is committed to helping, the organization alone cannot meet the growing demands.
