It was a day of excitement on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) as Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) stole the show, soaring 8.06% to close at GH¢0.67 from its previous price of GH¢0.62. Investors showed strong confidence in the stock, with 10,000 shares changing hands at a total value of GH¢6,700.
Hot on ETI’s heels was CalBank (CAL), which recorded the biggest percentage gain of the day, climbing 8.51% to GH¢0.51 from GH¢0.47. It also dominated trading activity, moving 57,313 shares worth GH¢29,229.63.
Meanwhile, GCB Bank (GCB) made a quiet but steady move upward, gaining 0.15% to GH¢6.51 from GH¢6.50. Though the percentage gain was small, it still caught the attention of investors, with 1,146 shares traded, amounting to GH¢7,460.44.
But while banking stocks had a strong day, NewGold (GLD), the gold-backed security that mirrors global gold prices, took a slight dip. It fell 0.35%, closing at GH¢437.99 from GH¢439.53.
Despite the drop, it remained the most valuable asset on the exchange, with a staggering 98,476 shares traded, generating an impressive GH¢43.13 million in total value.
