Businessman and Politician Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has revealed that despite his pleas and petitions to the President Akufo-Addo-led governemt to restore his revoked banking licences, his efforts have so far been ignored by the authorities.
One of the banks affected in the 2018 Banking Sector Cleanup Exercise led by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) is the Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom-owned GN Bank. Gold Coast Fund Management also owned by Dr. Nduom also suffered the brunt of the financial sector reform leading to numerous loss of jobs and locked up investments of many customers.
About 6 years on, the businessman is on a mission to appeal to the government to restore his licenses for his business to continue. This he believes will restore jobs and also revitalize his other businesses.
In a Facebook live session, the businessman man revealed that he has spoken to some prominent people in the country including clergy, chiefs, and others to plead his case with the president but to no avail.

In addition, petitions have also been submitted to the government but nothing has happened so far.
“I have been speaking to people—chiefs, bishops, all manner of individuals, even people in this administration. I have been asking them to help, writing petitions to the Akufo-Addo administration, saying let’s come together and find a solution, with the main intent being to ensure the safety and security of customers’ funds. But unfortunately, all my efforts have been in vain,” the businessman said in an engagement session on Facebook.
The ultimate goal of the once-celebrated entrepreneur is to restore the livelihoods of the many employees who lost their jobs following the government’s crackdown on his financial institutions.

He said his aim is to “get our licenses back and get the business going so that the jobs will be restored, and more importantly, to secure the investment funds of our customers.”
Due to the perceived high-handedness of the government in granting his request, the founder and leader of Group Nduom is calling on the public to join his course so that he can revitalize the private sector with his numerous businesses.
