Government has announced a public consultation on the Draft Cybersecurity (Amendment) Bill, 2025, aimed at updating the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) to reflect new developments and challenges in the digital space.
The exercise is being led by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) as part of efforts to ensure that Ghana’s cybersecurity laws remain effective, relevant, and responsive to the needs of all stakeholders.
According to the CSA, the consultation seeks public input on the draft bill to strengthen existing legislation and enhance the nation’s cybersecurity governance framework. The Authority said the process will ensure that the revised law captures the perspectives of key actors across government, industry, and civil society.
The consultation period will close on October 24, 2025, and the CSA is encouraging cybersecurity professionals, service providers, civil society organisations, and the general public to review and submit feedback before the deadline.
The CSA said the amendment process reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to building a resilient, secure, and inclusive digital environment capable of addressing emerging cyber threats.
The Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) established the framework for regulating cybersecurity activities in Ghana, promoting public safety online, and protecting critical information infrastructure. The amendment, once finalised, is expected to reinforce these objectives and strengthen Ghana’s readiness in the face of rapidly evolving digital risks.
Submissions can be made through the Authority’s official website at https://csa.gov.gh/public_document.php.
