The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has commenced a strike action today, despite efforts by the government and key labour unions to prevent the industrial action through negotiations and interventions.
CLOGSAG’s decision comes as the union is dissatisfied with unresolved issues relating to their conditions of service, prompting it to take a firm stance.
According to the Association, the declaration is in line with the expiration of an October 31 deadline for the government to meet their demands. CLOGSAG has voiced grievances over unmet promises related to improved salaries, allowances, and working conditions. Despite previous discussions, members have expressed frustration with what they perceive as delays and unfulfilled commitments from the government.

The government, in collaboration with labour unions, has made attempts to mediate and resolve outstanding issues. This has included meetings and proposed negotiation sessions to address the association’s concerns and avert the strike.
However, the decision to go with the strike now is expected to disrupt public sector operations, affecting services across government ministries and departments. It may also put further pressure on the government to resolve the issues, given the potential implications for productivity and public service delivery.
