Solomon Amah-Kai Lartey, President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG), has called on insurance practitioners across the country to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and excellence in their practice.
Speaking at the CIIG Insurance Excellence Awards held on Saturday, August 30, at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, Lartey emphasized that genuine recognition in the insurance sector comes from merit, not purchased accolades.
The awards ceremony, themed “Insurance for Ghana’s Prosperity, Redefining Standards, and Building Confidence,” honored individuals, organizations, and stakeholders that have excelled in insurance practices over the past year. According to Lartey, the CIIG Insurance Excellence Award is designed to ensure that Ghanaian insurance practices align with internationally accepted best practices and contribute to sustained industry growth for the benefit of clients.
“As a professional practitioner of insurance, it is your bounding duty to exude the tenets of professionalism, integrity and excellence,” Lartey said. He further noted that nomination for a CIIG award reflects confidence in an organization’s service offering and is far more meaningful than a purchased award.
The ceremony also highlighted the role of the awards in fostering collaboration and partnerships within the industry. “By your participation and sponsorship of the awards, your names are etched in the historical record of excellence and contribution of the Institute, in particular in the Ghanaian insurance industry as a whole,” Lartey added.
The event recognized several individuals, including Danny Anderson of Enterprise Insurance Company Limited, who was named Young Insurance Professional of the Year and urged younger practitioners to embrace innovation and digital solutions in claims processing.
The overall Insurance Professional of the Year award went to Mrs. Mercy Naa Koshie Boampong, Managing Director of Serene Insurance Company Limited, who commended CIIG’s efforts to promote professionalism and ethical standards amidst the changing dynamics of the sector.
Lartey’s call reflects a broader agenda to elevate public trust, drive growth, and enhance the reputation of Ghana’s insurance industry both locally and internationally, emphasizing that excellence and ethical practice remain central to the sector’s progress.
