Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says he will tackle business related issues in the first hundred days when elected as President.
Speaking at his maiden media encounter, he mentioned such business related issues as the flat tax regime, creating Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) jobs with the introduction of the “SME Bank”, cutting government expenditure by 3% of GDP and reform the Value Added Tax (VAT) regime.
He said by using Government’s purchasing power to stimulate industrial expansion and business growth to create jobs, it would also rollout a “Buy Ghana First” policy under which all goods and services procured by the public sector will first be filled by goods and services produced locally.

He said he will harmonize port charges to align with charges in competing regional ports, particularly Togo and other neighboring countries.
“Duties at our ports will be published to ensure transparency for businesses, he said.
The NPP flagbearer also said he will broaden the tax base by leveraging digitalisation to capture more eligible taxpayers to reduce the pressure on the few and eradicate corruption. However, he said Ghana must move to a public-private partnership to reduce the burden on its economy.

He assured that businesses will run smoothly and thrive without any risk when his administration takes over because there are several factors that will be put in place to ensure all businesses have equal opportunities.
