The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has made a strong appeal for the depoliticization of Ghana’s business environment, stressing that political neutrality is critical to fostering economic stability, long-term growth, and investor confidence.
Speaking at the 20th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner of Hubtel, one of Ghana’s leading digital and financial services providers, Dr. Ayine underscored the need to insulate local enterprises from the shifting winds of political influence.
“I want to say one thing about the fact that we need to depoliticize businesses in this country. That is extremely important. We need to support businesses to grow. There are no NDC businesses and there are no NPP businesses but there are Ghanaian businesses,” he asserted, drawing resounding applause from stakeholders across the business and technology sectors.

Held under the theme “Connecting Businesses to Communities,” the celebratory event spotlighted Hubtel’s two-decade journey of innovation, resilience, and digital transformation.
Since its founding in 2005, the company has grown from a startup known as SMSGH, renowned for its bulk messaging services, into a multifaceted technology firm driving financial inclusion and digital commerce across Ghana.
Dr. Ayine emphasized that a politically neutral business landscape would encourage sustainable development and enable companies like Hubtel to thrive irrespective of the party in power.
“We must build an ecosystem where businesses are not only resilient but empowered to scale through different political administrations,” he said.
Also addressing the gathering, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, reiterated the government’s vision for a tech-driven future underpinned by inclusivity and innovation.

“I’m passionate about where we are going in the digital space. President John Mahama’s vision is a Ghana that is digitally inclusive and data-driven. We are working to build the digital Ghana, a nation where technology powers every sector,” said George, highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment for digital businesses.
