Andela, the global talent outsourcing unicorn, has partnered with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), a project under the Linux Foundation, to provide training in cloud-native technologies to 20,000 African developers. This initiative aims to bridge the global talent gap in cloud-native technologies by offering free training focused on Kubernetes and other cloud-native tools.
Over the next three years, participants will be trained in key areas, preparing them to earn industry-recognized certifications like the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD). The program will be available through Andela’s talent marketplace, which includes over 150,000 tech professionals, primarily from Africa. In addition to the training, participants will have access to mentorship and a supportive learning community to guide them throughout their journey.
The collaboration comes at a crucial time when the global demand for cloud-native expertise is at its peak. A shortage of skilled cloud professionals has led to project delays, rising costs, and loss of competitiveness for businesses. By 2025, it is estimated that 7.5 million cloud-related positions worldwide will remain unfilled.

CNCF’s Chief Technology Officer, Chris Aniszczyk, emphasized the importance of this partnership in addressing the tech talent gap: “By collaborating with Andela, we aim to empower African developers and help close the global tech talent gap.”
Andela CEO Carrol Chang highlighted the growing demand for skilled professionals in Africa, saying, “This partnership with CNCF aligns perfectly with our mission to empower African developers. By equipping them with cloud-native skills, we’re enabling them to tap into opportunities in the global tech industry.”
Participants selected from Andela’s talent pool will undergo six to nine months of training, leading to certifications such as KCNA and CKAD, positioning them to take on significant roles in the global cloud-native technology sector. This programme is set to be a major step toward building Africa’s capacity in the growing field of cloud technologies.
