Afreximbank Academy and CreditRegistry Corporation have signed a three-year agreement to expand digital financial literacy and trade education across Africa, with an initial programme targeting 20,000 to 30,000 learners before scaling to about 3 million families and businesses.
The partnership will combine Afreximbank Academy’s expertise in trade, development finance and institutional capacity-building with CreditRegistry’s financial literacy and consumer credit education programmes.
The organisations said the initiative will focus on young people, entrepreneurs, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, women-owned businesses and professionals, providing training on financial management, creditworthiness and access to finance.
CreditRegistry’s Africa Consumer Credit Academy curriculum will be integrated into the Afreximbank Academy Learning Platform. The programme will link basic financial literacy and credit management with more advanced subjects, including trade finance, compliance, due diligence and international trade.
The partnership comes as African businesses seek greater access to finance and new markets under the continent’s drive toward deeper economic integration.
Digital platforms to support cross-border trade
The programme will also promote the use of Afreximbank’s digital platforms, including the MANSA Customer Due Diligence Repository and the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System, or PAPSS.
The partners said greater awareness of these platforms could help businesses strengthen compliance, improve access to finance and participate more confidently in cross-border trade.
Training will be delivered through digital courses, masterclasses, executive workshops, webinars and certification programmes.
Stephen Kauma, Group Managing Director of Human Resources at Afreximbank, said the partnership would connect financial literacy with practical trade education to help African entrepreneurs and professionals compete in an increasingly integrated market.
Dr. Jameelah Sharrieff-Ayedun, Co-Founder and Director of CreditRegistry Corporation, said combining CreditRegistry’s credit-education expertise with Afreximbank Academy’s trade platform would help individuals and businesses make better financial decisions and improve access to finance.
The partnership is expected to focus on improving employability, strengthening enterprises and expanding participation in regional and international markets, with the three-year agreement providing the framework for jointly developed learning programmes.
