Zimbabwe has officially launched Zimbabwe Mining Week, a new annual international conference and exhibition aimed at elevating the country’s role in the global critical minerals sector. The event will take place from 17–19 November 2026 at Rainbow Towers Hotel & Conference Venue in Harare.
Hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and organised by VUKA Group in partnership with Nzuri Communications, Zimbabwe Mining Week is designed to move the mining conversation beyond raw extraction and exports. The platform seeks to focus on ecosystem-led growth, including local processing, industrialisation, energy integration, infrastructure, ESG compliance, and sustainable value creation.
Zimbabwe is rich in mineral resources, including gold, PGMs, lithium, chrome, nickel, coal, and other industrial minerals, with mining accounting for roughly 13% of national GDP. With policy reforms underway and rising global demand for battery and critical minerals, the country is aiming to align its mineral wealth with national development goals.
Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Dr. Polite Kambamura, said the initiative will help attract investment, promote transparency, and translate mineral resources into inclusive economic growth and long-term national development.
Tichaona Mawoni, CEO of Nzuri Communications, added that Zimbabwe Mining Week will position the country at the centre of the global critical minerals dialogue, focusing on domestic processing, value addition, and industrialisation rather than merely resource extraction.
The event will bring together government officials, mining companies, investors, financiers, and solution providers to facilitate dialogue, partnerships, and investment opportunities. It aims to create a platform where policy meets capital, processing meets power, and mineral wealth translates into sustainable economic value.
