The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghana Digital Centres (GDC) to train 2,000 young Ghanaians in Microsoft-accredited digital skills, thereby strengthening the country’s digital workforce and enhancing youth employability.
The programme, which will offer training in Graphic Design, Web Design and Data Analytics, forms part of a broader continental initiative under which Ghana secured 2,000 of the 3,000 available training slots through YEA’s intervention. Participants will receive globally recognised Microsoft certifications, while 600 outstanding trainees will be offered paid internship opportunities to gain practical industry experience.
The initiative is expected to support Ghana’s digital transformation agenda by equipping young people with in-demand technical skills and creating stronger pathways into employment and the digital economy.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, YEA Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale said the Agency remained committed to “equipping Ghanaian youth with future-ready skills” while expanding “pathways to sustainable employment” through strategic partnerships that respond to evolving labour market demands.
He noted that providing internationally recognised digital training and practical workplace experience would better position young people to compete in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
The agreement was signed by Malik Basintale on behalf of YEA and Dzifa Gunu, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Digital Centres, reinforcing what the Agency described as a shared commitment to youth empowerment through digital skills development.
The partnership enhances YEA’s ongoing efforts to improve employment prospects for young Ghanaians by investing in market-relevant skills and strengthening collaboration with institutions that support innovation, technology and workforce development.
