Renowned broadcast journalist and entrepreneur, Vivian Kai Lokko, has launched her latest fashion line, the “Kailia Nicholas Renaissance Collection”, unveiling a set of handmade luxury handbags designed to merge elegance with cultural identity.
The launch, held on September 15, introduced compact, versatile bags in vibrant colors, adding to the growing reputation of Kailia Nicholas as a brand that blends sustainability, craftsmanship, and bold design. Kai Lokko, who also serves as Head of News at Citi FM and Channel One TV, said the collection reflects her lifelong passion for design and creativity.
In a conversation with The High Street Journal, she explained the inspiration behind the brand’s name, “Kai means third girl in the Ga tribe, lia comes from my mother Amelia, and Nicholas is my father’s name. It’s an African and English-infused name that honors my parents while carrying an identity that can resonate globally” she said.

She revealed that her journey into handbag design dates back to her school years, but challenges with reliable artisans pushed her to learn the craft herself. “I’ve always loved creating. I had to start making the bags myself because the people I found weren’t detailed or consistent enough,” she said.
Kai Lokko also advised young women looking to build businesses of their own to go for it.“Go get it. Push it. In life, it’s either a yes or no. If it’s no, try another way until it’s yes. It won’t be easy, there’ll be doubters, impediments, pain, sweat, toil, but you have to go the extra mile to win. Nothing you want or value is free.”
She drew on biblical references to cite her philosophy, citing 2 Samuel 24:24 to stressing on sacrifice and hard work. “If you want to be number one, it’s not business as usual. You need to sacrifice. You need to give it your all,” she said.

The Renaissance Collection, she noted, is more than a fashion line, it is an extension of her identity as both a journalist and creative, and a commitment not to leave her talents untapped. “Anytime I read the scripture about the talents, it scares me not to multiply what I’ve been given,” she said.
Kailia Nicholas blends African heritage with a modern design language that stands on the global stage, establishing itself as a distinctive Ghanaian brand with international ambitions.
