Vinolia Wealth Enterprise, a leading climate-focused food processing and cosmetics company, emerged as the winner of the 2024 AGI Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition.
The competition, which was part of a three-day summit organized by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), aimed to highlight the innovative solutions of Ghanaian youth in addressing challenges such as climate variability, inefficient supply chains, and limited access to modern agricultural practices.
Held on September 19, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre, the competition attracted participants from diverse sectors within Ghana’s entrepreneurial landscape.
Vinolia Wealth Enterprise, known for using cassava and other locally grown crops to produce breakfast foods, spices, and cosmetics, claimed the top prize of $10,000. The company, which has positively impacted 85 communities through training and development initiatives, impressed the panel of judges with its sustainable business model and potential for growth.

Wobil Technologies Ltd., an agritech startup that provides innovative rice threshing solutions for smallholder farmers, came in second place with a prize of $6,000, while Ecovon, a company producing eco-friendly wood alternatives, came third, winning $4,000.
The five finalists in the competition each presented groundbreaking solutions to the judges. Aquamet Technologies, which uses a smart water quality probe to monitor key water parameters and reduce fish mortalities, and Eze Ego, which developed an organic solution called Fresh Guard to extend the shelf life of tuber crops, completed the top five. Aquamet and Eze Ego received consolation prizes of $1,000 each for their contributions to improving agricultural and food security systems.
The event was supported by several key partners, including the McGill Mastercard Foundation, the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) Invest for Jobs program, and KFW. These organizations, in collaboration with AGI, have been pivotal in fostering entrepreneurial growth and innovation among Ghana’s youth, with a strong focus on sustainability and social impact.
A distinguished panel of judges, consisting of Eunice Agyeiwaa Agyepong, Technical Advisor at GIZ Ghana; Letitia Donkor, a doctoral candidate at the University of Ghana’s Department of Food Process Engineering; and Mr. Richard Ahenkora Osei from the Volta River Authority (VRA), evaluated the finalists on several key criteria. These included market understanding, growth potential, and the ability to generate income while minimizing environmental impacts.
In an interview with the High Street Journal, Madam Emma Zigah, CEO of Vinolia Wealth Enterprise, couldn’t contain her excitement as she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizers for presenting such a remarkable opportunity.
This marks the fifth edition of the AGI Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition, which continues to serve as a platform for young innovators to showcase their ideas and contribute to Ghana’s sustainable development through eco-conscious business practices.
