Recent reports highlight significant challenges faced by MTN users and vendors due to unstable network connectivity. This issue has caused considerable disruptions in various business operations and customer interactions.
Yaw, a resident of Alajo, has expressed frustration over the unreliable network, which has led to a noticeable decline in customer traffic. He explained that the persistent network issues deter customers, as they encounter problems when purchasing airtime or bundles.
“Whenever customers visit, I have to inform them that the network is unreliable, which drives them away,” Mr. Yaw said. Additionally, attempts to make calls are often met with messages indicating that the number cannot be reached or is busy, further exacerbating the problem.
Similarly, Mr. Theophilus, a mobile money (MoMo) vendor, reported that his business has suffered due to the network instability. “The network issues have forced me to reduce my working hours. When customers come in, the poor connectivity prevents me from completing transactions, including airtime sales and money transfers,” he stated.

The situation has led to a decrease in customer volume and a corresponding drop in revenue. Local resident Firdaus, who’s also a student at the University of Ghana, also highlighted the impact of the unstable network on her daily life. As a distance student, she relies on stable internet access to check messages from her school’s WhatsApp group.
“When I turn on my data, sometimes it doesn’t show or takes a while to connect,” Firdaus noted. This connectivity issue often results in her missing important messages, which affects her academic engagement.
This network instability is not only affecting individual vendors and students but also causing broader disruptions in the telecommunications sector. Businesses reliant on MTN’s services are struggling to maintain operations, impacting both revenue and customer satisfaction.
MTN has yet to release a statement addressing these connectivity issues. However, stakeholders and affected individuals are calling for urgent action to resolve the network problems and restore reliable service.
As network connectivity issues continue to plague MTN users and vendors, there is a pressing need for resolution to mitigate the adverse effects on business operations and personal communications. Ensuring stable and reliable network services is crucial for maintaining customer trust and supporting the growth of small businesses and students who depend on seamless connectivity.
In the meantime, affected vendors and users remain hopeful for a prompt and effective solution to these ongoing challenges.
