Unilever Ghana PLC has demonstrated strong operational resilience in the face of Ghana’s challenging economic environment, reporting a profit of GHS₵58 million in 2024, up from a revenue base of GH₵930.8 million, according to figures presented at the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE)’s ‘Facts Behind The Figures’ forum.
Managing Director Mr. Christopher Wulff-Caesar said despite the macroeconomic headwinds and escalating operational costs, the company sustained a healthy cash position of GH₵97 million. He attributed the performance to innovation, operational efficiency, and continued investment in Unilever’s core heritage brands such as Pepsodent, Geisha, and Vaseline.
“We have remained focused on innovation and agility, and our 2024 performance reflects the enduring strength of our brands and the effectiveness of our business model,” Mr. Wulff-Caesar told stakeholders at the GSE event.
Product Expansion & Category Leadership
Unilever Ghana retained its market leadership in Oral Care and Personal Care categories, while significantly expanding its Home Care segment with the launch of Omo Autos and the reintroduction of Omo Handwash in 2024.
Sustainability & Social Impact Drive
In line with its Growth Action Plan (GAP), Unilever continues to prioritize sustainability. Through its leadership in the Ghana Recycling Initiative by Private Enterprises (GRIPE), the company is promoting a circular economy for plastics. It also launched plastic education initiatives both internally and in basic schools nationwide.
Additionally, Unilever Ghana, in partnership with the British Government and Ernst & Young, disbursed £100,000 each to two local enterprises in the plastics and agriculture sectors to drive sustainable growth and job creation.
Health & Hygiene Promotion
Through its hygiene education campaigns, especially under the Pepsodent “twice-brushing” campaign, the company reaches over one million Ghanaians annually, delivering oral health education and donating hygiene products to underserved communities.
Commitment to Purpose and Growth
Reaffirming the company’s purpose of “Brightening Everyday Life for All,” Mr. Wulff-Caesar stressed Unilever Ghana’s commitment to consistent, competitive, profitable, and responsible growth, adding:
“Our impact is not just in the market but in the lives we touch across communities in Ghana.”
