Seven Tesla Supercharging stations in Littleton, Massachusetts, were engulfed in flames early Monday morning, prompting a police investigation. Local authorities suspect the fires were intentionally set.
According to Littleton Police, the seven damaged charging stations are the only ones in the small town, making the loss significant.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the stations are currently out of service and are being repaired. Tesla’s charging account on X confirmed that the affected posts and wiring would be replaced within 48 hours.
The fires were reported at around 1:10 a.m. at The Point Shopping Center. Officers arriving at the scene found multiple Tesla charging stations engulfed in flames and dark smoke. Despite efforts to contain the fires, seven stations suffered heavy fire-related damage.
Local police, fire departments, and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit are investigating the incident.
The Arson Watch Reward Program is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification of those responsible for the attack.
While there have been numerous protests against Tesla and CEO Elon Musk across the country, including “Tesla Takedown” protests and vandalism incidents, Littleton police have not reported any related activities in the town.
Notably, Tesla’s charging infrastructure has faced damage in other regions as well. In Colorado, a woman was arrested after being suspected of involvement in vandalizing a Tesla dealership with Molotov cocktails, and protests have led to arrests in cities like Manhattan.
