The Tema Development Corporation (TDC) is set to expand its affordable housing projects beyond Greater Accra, with the Volta Regional capital, Ho, chosen as the first beneficiary.
A delegation led by Courage K. M. Nunekpeku, Managing Director of TDC, announced the initiative during a courtesy call on Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State. TDC has already secured 1,000 acres of land in Ho for the project, with construction of affordable housing units expected to commence in the coming months. The move is aimed at addressing Ghana’s widening housing deficit while creating jobs and stimulating local economic activity.
Togbe Afede welcomed the project, describing it as a timely intervention. “This project will not only help bridge the housing gap but also create valuable employment opportunities for our youth, artisans, contractors, and service providers,” he said, assuring the corporation of his full support.
The visit also saw TDC make donations to support the annual Asogli Te Za festival and the Asogli Educational Fund, a gesture Togbe Afede said demonstrated the corporation’s commitment to social and educational development in the region.
The Volta project marks the first time TDC is expanding its operations outside Greater Accra, a move that could pave the way for further developments across the country.
The team included senior management of TDC, Ebenezer Sam, Director of Housing at the Ministry of Works and Housing representing the sector minister, Ho Municipal Chief Executive Stephen Adom, and regional executives of the National Democratic Congress.
