Turkish energy firm Synergy Co. Ltd. is set to invest in Ghana’s renewable energy sector by establishing a manufacturing plant for solar and smart meters and proposing a training school to equip Ghanaians with essential skills in renewable energy production.
During a meeting on March 11 with the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, Synergy outlined plans to manufacture up to 12 million electrical meters annually in Ghana.
These advanced meters will include safeguards against tampering to reduce energy losses and improve efficiency in electricity distribution.
The company, with 48 years of experience in the energy sector, aims to complement its manufacturing operations with a training school to develop a skilled workforce in solar panel and meter production.
This initiative is expected to create employment opportunities while strengthening Ghana’s renewable energy capacity.
Synergy also sought government support to facilitate the adoption of its products and services in the local market.
Minister Jinapor welcomed the proposal, highlighting the government’s commitment to energy sustainability, local industrialization, and job creation. He assured the company of the ministry’s willingness to collaborate to ensure the initiative’s success.
